Our Story:
Established: Since 1986
We are a woman-owned business (mother and daughter) at the San Francisco Flower Market. Our
company has been in existence since 1986 and at the San Francisco Flower Mart since 2008.
Sunshine Flowers International was founded by Patricia Valencia, a native of Bogota, Colombia. In the mid-
1980s, Patricia moved to California and completed her degree in Business Administration from San
Francisco State University, with an emphasis on importing and marketing. After that, she embarked on
importing cut flowers from Colombia. She was the first female business owner and flower importer at the
San Francisco Flower Mart.
Her daughter, Patricia Araujo Clay, joined the business full-time in 2015. She has worked in the Arts and
retail industry, including at Ah Sam Flowers and Silver Terrace Nursery, where she learned all about
flowers. She studied Architecture and received a B.F.A in Painting from the San Francisco Art Institute, and
she has been exhibiting her works annually in San Francisco.
Sunshine Flowers International’s legacy has been serving many loyal customers for over 30 years. We
have brought our experience into a wide array of flowers (like hydrangeas, roses, and special novelties).
We look forward to continuing to thrive in the New Market with our existing and new customers.
Looking Forward:
We are delighted to work at the new San Francisco Flower Market at the beautiful new location in Dog patch

fellow flower enthusiasts, our customers, and meeting new faces weekly!
